The recent form makes for tough reading. Strip away the promising-looking fourth from a few runs back and what you find is a horse that has finished seventh, seventh, sixth, eighth, and eighth across its last five outings — consistently toward the rear of the field. There is no upward curve to point to, no sign that things are clicking into place. Sanny Doo raced just yesterday, which at least tells you the team believes there is something worth persevering with.
That team is Jim Goldie's yard at Uplawmoor in Lanarkshire, and it is no small operation. Goldie has sent out 88 winners already this season — that is a genuinely productive yard by any measure, one that clearly knows how to get a horse ready to win. The puzzle, then, is why Sanny Doo has not managed to translate that environment into any kind of result across eight attempts. Whether it needs a different setup, more time, or simply a softer opportunity to find its feet, that answer has not arrived yet.
At three years old, Sanny Doo is young enough that patience is not entirely unreasonable. Some horses take time to work things out. But eight races is a reasonable sample, and the burden of proof is growing. For now, it remains a horse that races regularly, finishes safely, and leaves its followers hoping that one day the penny will drop.
