That consistency is genuinely unusual. Most horses at this level will have at least one run where things go wrong — a bad start, a rough passage through the field, a day when they simply weren't at it. Sangreal has been in the money all three times, which suggests a tough, reliable competitor. The question now is whether that reliability can be turned into a first win, or whether there's always going to be one horse too good on the day.
What works in Sangreal's favour is the yard behind it. Joseph Patrick O'Brien, training out of Owning Hill in Co Kilkenny, has sent out 171 winners already this season — a number that puts him firmly among the most productive operations in Irish racing. When a trainer is firing in winners at that volume, the horses in their care tend to be well placed, well prepared, and pointed at races they can win. Sangreal hasn't won yet, but it's hard to look at that record and think the opportunity won't come.
Raced just one day ago and still active, Sangreal is clearly in good health and being kept busy. At three years old, there's plenty of time. Plenty of races still to run.
