Sanditon

The horse's recent campaign has been frustrating. It hasn't won in its last six races, finishing seventh twice in that stretch, though it did secure a couple of top-3 finishes. That last victory, at Wolverhampton back in June, now sits four months in the rear-view mirror. The pattern of recent form — seventh, second, fifth, seventh, fifth, seventh — shows a horse that occasionally runs well enough to threaten but rarely delivers when it matters.

Sanditon's first win came at Chelmsford in February, early in what appears to be a 2026 campaign, but it has not yet built on that success with any consistency. The horse actually performs better on normal ground conditions, winning 2 of 18 races on such surfaces (11%), which is notably stronger than its overall 7% record. Finding similar ground and lower-class races might offer the best chance of adding to its tally. Callum Shepherd, its most frequent partner, has ridden the horse five times and won once together — a respectable 20% win rate with the same jockey, which is better than the horse's overall numbers and suggests they work reasonably well as a team. Charlie Johnston's Middleham Moor yard, which has sent out 131 winners this season, has the infrastructure to place Sanditon in winnable races, but so far the results have not followed.
