But Salvator Mundi isn't simply making up the numbers in that operation. It has earned its place at the top table, with 3 of its 9 races run at Class 1 level, the very highest grade in Britain, where it has won 1 of those 3 — a record that is hard to sustain against the best horses around.

That Class 1 win came at Aintree on 4 April 2025, one of the most famous racecourses in the world and a track where only the very best tend to shine. Aintree doesn't flatter ordinary horses, and winning there at the highest level is the kind of result that defines a career. Its first win had come earlier, at Tipperary in May 2024, and the journey from that opening success to a Class 1 triumph shows real progression.

The partnership with jockey Paul Townend is one of the most compelling subplots here. In 5 races together, they have won 4 — that's 80%, a number so high it borders on extraordinary. When Townend is in the saddle, this horse turns up and delivers. Most recently, they combined to win at Thurles on 5 February 2026, seven weeks ago, the horse's latest success before a short break of 52 days. After a rest, horses often come back refreshed and sharper, which makes the next run one to watch closely.

Recent form reads 1-6-2-2-1-5, which tells an interesting story — this is a horse that tends to run well in bursts, capable of top-two finishes but capable too of disappointing. With Townend likely back on board and a yard firing on all cylinders, the conditions are in place for another big run.
