The pattern of recent runs tells a useful story. After that breakthrough win at Kempton, Sakowin returned to the track just a week later and finished tenth, then fifth, then ninth, then first on its most recent outing only a day ago. That's volatile form — the kind you see in a young horse still learning, still variable in its attitude or understanding of what racing demands. Richard Hughes, who trains from Upper Lambourn in Berkshire, has had a strong season with 60 winners already, so the yard knows how to get horses ready. The question now is whether Sakowin can build on that Kempton win and show some consistency. The horse is clearly capable of winning, but needs to prove it can do so more than once every five tries.
