Saint Mungo won on its debut at Newbury just this week, a victory that came at the first attempt in what looks like a promising start to its racing career. The two-year-old, trained by Eve Johnson Houghton at her Blewbury yard in Oxfordshire, has now raced twice and finished first or second both times — a 50 per cent win rate (1 win from 2 races) that speaks to genuine early talent.
