Sacre Chef is a 3-year-old trained by
Dan Skelton at his Alcester yard, and is still finding his feet on the track. He has run once so far, finishing third—not a winning debut, but the sort of run that often signals a horse worth watching as it gains experience. Skelton's operation is among the busiest in the country, having already sent out 198 winners this season, so the trainer clearly backs his judgment about which horses are worth developing. With only one race under his belt and that run coming just a day ago, Sacre Chef remains very much a work in progress. These early races are where racehorses learn how to settle, how to handle the atmosphere and the company, and how to respond to their jockey. A third-place finish at this stage is unremarkable in itself, but it is precisely the kind of starting point from which many decent horses emerge.
