Romotoso

The pattern in Romoteso's last five races tells a story of inconsistency. After that eighth-place run, there were encouraging back-to-back top-three finishes, then a better performance with a sixth, before the most recent disappointing eighth. It's early days for a two-year-old, and William Knight's Newmarket yard — which has already sent out 28 winners this season — has plenty of time to sort out what works best for this horse. Young racehorses often need time to settle, find their rhythm, and work out which distances and ground conditions suit them. Right now, Romoteso is doing the job of teaching itself what racing is about, and the top-three finishes suggest there is a foundation to build on.
