What gives some cause for optimism is the trainer. Charlie Clover's yard in Newmarket has sent out 24 winners already this season, which tells you this is a stable that knows how to get horses ready to perform. Newmarket is one of the great training centres in Britain, and horses that come out of busy, successful yards there tend to be well-prepared. Romidijo is in capable hands, and the fact that the horse raced just yesterday and is still actively campaigning suggests the team see enough promise to keep pressing forward.

At this stage, Romidijo is a work in progress — a young horse with two placed finishes to its name, trained by someone who clearly knows how to find winners. The question is whether that second place can be converted into a first win before long.
