Rockymountainbleu

At eight years old, Rockymountainbleu is entering the veteran stage where horses either settle into a reliable rhythm at a certain level or begin to fade. His recent form — a run of sixth, ninth, second, third, third and fourth — shows flashes of competence mixed with blank days. Those two third-place finishes and the second suggest he still has something to offer on his day, but the ninth and the sixth indicate he can also completely miss the frame. He's been most often ridden by Tiernan Power Roche, though that partnership has yielded only one win from eleven races together, a similarly modest return. Trained by P J Rothwell at Tinahely in County Wicklow, the horse races from a yard that has clearly had a productive season with 35 winners already, so he is part of a functioning operation rather than struggling alone.

The reality for Rockymountainbleu now is that he remains active and still competitive enough to pick up the occasional place, but the long drought since November 2024 suggests the window for another victory may be quietly closing. He is a horse that works hard and shows up, but lacks the spark that separates winners from nearly-horses.
