The recent form makes for mixed reading. A second-place finish sits in there — a reminder that the talent to get close exists — but either side of it are some disappointing runs, including a fourteenth place that suggests there are days when things just don't click at all. The most recent run, just 17 days ago, ended in sixth, which keeps it in the conversation without exactly setting pulses racing.
Jockey Liam Quinlan has been the regular partner, riding Roc My Haarth in 11 of its 12 races without managing to find the winner's enclosure together. That kind of loyalty and continuity between horse and rider usually means something is being worked on, some small improvement being chased — but the scoreboard remains blank. Eleven attempts, no wins. At some point that becomes a notable fact in itself.
To be fair to the Hackett yard, they have sent out four winners this season, so this isn't a stable short of knowhow. Roc My Haarth simply hasn't been able to add to that tally. Whether it finds a race that suits well enough to finally break through is the question worth watching. The second place on the recent record proves it can threaten — it just hasn't yet managed to turn that promise into something to celebrate.
