Riyami

All four of those wins have come over long distances — two miles or more — and that tells you something about the kind of horse Riyami is. It needs time and space to get into its rhythm, the sort of race where stamina matters more than a sudden burst of speed. Over those longer trips it wins 4 from 20 races, or 1 in 5, which is genuinely solid. Over shorter distances, it has never won. That's not a flaw so much as a clear identity: point Riyami at a long race on normal ground at Dundalk and you have a very different proposition than the bare numbers suggest.

The trainer, Denis Gerard Hogan, has had a productive season — 54 winners sent out from the yard, which is the kind of output that marks a stable in good form. The partnership with jockey J M Sheridan has been particularly fruitful for Riyami specifically: two wins from nine rides together, meaning they click at a rate of roughly 1 in every 4 or 5 races, well above the horse's overall average. That combination is worth noting.

The current form run of six races without a win, most recently finishing eighth just yesterday, might look discouraging on the surface. But Riyami's last win came at Dundalk as recently as March 2026, just four months ago, and its entire record of success is so tightly tied to one venue and one set of conditions that the dry spells between those peaks are almost beside the point. Watch for Riyami when the race card says Dundalk, the ground is normal, and the trip is a long one. That's when this horse turns into something worth watching.
