Risk It All

The recent form makes for particularly interesting reading. In the last six races, Risk It All has posted three second-place finishes, a third, an eleventh, and a run marked as a non-completion. That eleventh-place effort sits oddly in an otherwise tidy sequence, and the non-completion is something of a blank in the story — but strip those out and what you have is a horse that has podiumed four times in its most recent completed races. The question is whether that finishing kick is ever going to be enough to get its nose in front.

The horse operates mainly at Class 4 level — mid-table in the grand scheme of British racing, where competition is solid but not elite — and has failed to win in all three attempts at that grade. That is not a disaster, but it does raise the obvious question: is Risk It All simply a horse that finds a way to be competitive without quite finding a way to win? Some horses are built that way. They're useful, they're consistent, they earn their keep — but that final gear, the one that separates the placed horse from the winner, never quite arrives.

Trained by Gary and Josh Moore out of Lower Beeding in West Sussex, Risk It All is at least in capable hands. The Moore yard has sent out 94 winners this season alone — a serious operation by any measure, the kind of stable that knows how to place a horse and find the right opportunity. If anyone can find the race that finally unlocks this horse, it is them. Risk It All last raced just 15 days ago, so the yard — the team — are clearly keeping it busy and looking for that breakthrough. Whether it comes is another matter, but on the evidence so far, this is a horse that will make you watch right until the line.
