The overall record backs up the impression of a genuinely talented horse. Three wins and six places from just eight races, a win rate of roughly 1 in every 2.5 starts — that is an exceptional return. Recent form reads 3-1-1-2-7-4 going back through the last six runs, meaning Red Letter has hit the top two in four of those six races. The one blip, that seventh-place finish, sticks out a little, but form like this is exactly what trainers dream about.
G M Lyons has trained Red Letter throughout, operating out of Dunsany in County Meath. It is a yard firing on all cylinders right now — 47 winners already this season — and Red Letter is one of the reasons why. In the saddle, Colin Keane has been the regular partner, riding in six of the eight career races and winning two of them, a 33% win rate that reflects genuine chemistry between horse and rider. Keane is one of the best jockeys in Ireland, and when a top rider keeps coming back to the same horse, that tells you something.
The one question mark is the layoff. Red Letter has not raced for roughly six months, with the last run coming at The Curragh on 30 August 2025. A long break is always a slight unknown — even a horse in top condition needs a race or two to fully sharpen up. That said, from a trainer sending out winners at the pace Lyons is managing this season, you would expect Red Letter to return in good shape. If the race is back at The Curragh, the form book says back it with confidence.
