Red Caberneigh is a 2-year-old stepping onto a racecourse for the first time, which means there is no form to judge it by — just potential and breeding. The horse is by A'Ali out of a Danroad mare, a cross that suggests a blend of speed and stamina in its bloodline. What we do know is that it has been prepared by
Michael Appleby, a trainer based at Oakham in Rutland who has been in excellent form this season, sending out 71 winners from his yard. That kind of record suggests Appleby has the horses and the system firing on all cylinders, which is a reasonable sign that Red Caberneigh has been readied properly for this debut.
