The recent run of form makes for sobering reading: in its last six races, the best Raysham has managed is a pair of third-place finishes, sandwiched around some far less encouraging efforts — including a tenth and a ninth. The horse raced just yesterday, so it is clearly being kept busy, but the results haven't shifted. Zak Wheatley has been in the saddle for six of those outings and is still looking for his first win aboard the horse, the pair yet to click in a way that produces a result.
Raysham typically competes at Class 6, which is the lowest tier of British racing — essentially the entry-level grade where horses who haven't quite cracked it elsewhere come to find their level. Even there, the wins haven't come, with zero from three attempts at that grade. Trainer Declan Carroll, based at Malton in North Yorkshire, has had a productive season with 22 winners from his yard, so the firepower is there — Raysham just hasn't been part of that story yet. Whether a change of tactics, a different trip, or simply more time is the answer remains to be seen, but at four years old, the clock isn't exactly ticking loudly just yet.
