Ravenglass

His last win came at Chepstow on 13 May 2025, nearly a year and a half ago. Since then, he has raced six times without reaching the winner's circle, though his recent form shows he is still capable: a fourth, then a sixth, a sixth again, a fourth more recently, and a seventh just yesterday. It is the form of a horse treading water rather than one in serious decline. Adrian Wintle's yard at Westbury-On-Severn has clearly kept him competitive enough to keep running, and the trainer has sent out 30 winners this season, suggesting the stable knows what it is doing. Joe Leavy, his most frequent partner, has ridden Ravenglass 13 times and won twice (15%)—again, better than the horse's baseline, suggesting there is a working relationship that suits both.

Most tellingly, Ravenglass competes almost entirely at Class 6, the lower tier of racing. In that sphere, he has won 5 of 39 races (13%), well above his career average. This is a horse operating at the right level, winning enough to justify his place in a trainer's yard but not so often that he is overextended. He remains active and still capable of finding the winner's enclosure on the right day with the right conditions beneath his hooves.
