Ravenglass

The horse races primarily at Class 6, the lowest tier of racing, and even at that level it wins roughly one in every eight races. When conditions suit it — normal, standard ground rather than the extremes of wet or very firm — the numbers improve slightly, with two wins from 11 races, but that is still only one win every five or six attempts. Joe Leavy, its most frequent jockey, has ridden Ravenglass 13 times and partnered it to two victories, a rate of 15 per cent, which slightly outperforms the horse's overall record. Adrian Wintle trains the horse from Westbury-On-Severn in Gloucestershire, a yard that has managed to find 30 winners this season despite having to work with horses like this one. Ravenglass remains active, having raced just a day ago, but after a year and a half without success and six consecutive runs without even a victory in sight, it is a horse that has long since stopped living up to any early promise it may once have held.
