Rattledelatch

The recent form makes for honest reading: a twelfth, a sixth, and a ninth in its last three completed races. Those are mid-pack to towards-the-back finishes, which suggests the horse is competitive enough to get round but hasn't yet found the conditions or race that brings out its best. The two gaps before those runs are unknown, so there may be more to the story earlier in the career.

Trainer John Queally's yard has sent out one winner this season, which tells you this is a small operation rather than a powerhouse stable. That is not a criticism — plenty of shrewd smaller trainers know their horses inside out and find the right opportunities — but it does mean Rattledelatch will need to do most of the talking itself when its moment comes. Whether that moment arrives soon is the question worth watching.
