Raglan Road

At eight years old, Raglan Road is in the prime of a jumping career, experienced enough to read a race but not yet showing any signs of decline. The most recent win came at Punchestown just five weeks ago, in June 2026, and the horse raced again only yesterday — this is an active, busy campaign from a yard that clearly has confidence in what it has on its hands.

That yard is Henry De Bromhead's operation in Knockeen, Co Waterford, one of the most respected jumps stables in Ireland. De Bromhead has sent out 110 winners already this season, which is a remarkable output — it means almost every week, something from the yard is winning somewhere. When a trainer of that calibre keeps running a horse regularly and in quick succession, it tends to mean they see something they like. Back in November 2023, De Bromhead noted after a run at Gowran that the horse had performed nicely and that more opportunities would follow — and sure enough, the first career win came at Naas in March 2024, with bigger moments arriving since.

The one slightly curious thread in Raglan Road's story is the partnership with Mark Walsh, Ireland's most decorated jump jockey. Walsh has ridden the horse six times without a win between them — zero from six. That's a strange statistic for such a gifted jockey, and it suggests either that those six rides came in particularly competitive races, or that the partnership simply hasn't clicked. Yet the wins have come with other riders in the saddle, which raises an interesting question about whether a change of jockey could unlock even more from a horse that is clearly in very good form right now.
