The highlight so far came at York on 7 September 2025, when Proud Nation landed a Class 2 race — one of the top races in Britain — for its first career win. York is one of the most prestigious venues in British racing, sometimes called the Ascot of the North, so winning there at this level on your first visit to the winner's enclosure is a seriously eye-catching achievement. It isn't the sort of track where ordinary horses win top races; the competition is fierce and the crowd knows what it's watching.
Proud Nation is trained by the father-and-son partnership of Richard and Peter Fahey, based at Musley Bank in North Yorkshire — a yard that has sent out 23 winners already this season. That's a busy, successful operation, and the fact that Proud Nation is one of their horses says something about the quality of animal they're working with. The Faheys are experienced trainers who know how to place a horse well and get the best out of it.
The recent form figures — 2, 5, 3, 1, 2 reading from most recent to oldest — show a horse that has been knocking on the door for a while before finally breaking through. A second place on its most recent outing, just one day ago, means Proud Nation is bang in form and right in the thick of things. For a 3-year-old still finding its feet, that level of activity and consistency points to a horse with more to give. The win at York may well not be the last time this one finds its way to the front.
