What makes Prospect House interesting is the partnership he has developed with jockey William Maggs. When the two team up, Maggs has steered him to victory in four of his 16 rides together — a 25 per cent win rate that stands well clear of the horse's overall 15 per cent win rate across all his races. That kind of consistency with one jockey often signals a real understanding between horse and rider. Peter Niven's yard at Barton-le-Street has had a decent season sending out 12 winners, and Prospect House has been a reliable contributor to that tally.

At Market Rasen, the horse is practically a specialist: three wins from 12 races shows genuine affection for the track. Class 5 racing — the lower grade where he competes — is his natural level, and he wins roughly one in every five races there, which is the benchmark of a horse that belongs. The recent Uttoxeter victory last week is no flash in the pan either. For an eight-year-old in the latter part of his career, Prospect House continues to earn his keep and remains very much a horse worth watching on days when he next lines up.
