Postcard

Trained by Adam Kirby at his yard in Kirtling, on the outskirts of Newmarket, Postcard has at least been kept busy. It raced just yesterday, so this is a horse very much in the middle of its season, with time still to find its feet. Kirby's yard has sent out six winners this season, so the operation knows how to get a horse ready to win — the question is whether Postcard can get there.

At this stage, the honest read is that Postcard is still learning. Two-year-olds often need time to work out what racing is actually about — the noise, the pace, the pressure of other horses — and some take longer than others to put it all together. A run last in a field of ten is very different from a horse that has simply hit a ceiling. There is nothing here yet to suggest Postcard cannot improve, but it will need to show something soon to keep confidence alive.
