Port of London

The horse is trained by John and Thady Gosden at Newmarket, one of Britain's most successful yards — they have already sent out 140 winners this season alone. Port of London has won twice at Class 4 level, the kind of competitive but not elite races where consistency matters. At that level, the horse has a genuinely impressive record: two wins from three races, a 67% win rate that suggests it belongs in that company. Its first win came at Kempton Park on 15 September 2025, and the most recent victory arrived at Lingfield Park on 22 December 2025 — ten months ago now. That gap is telling. The horse has raced six times since that last win, and while it has managed a couple of top-3 finishes in that run, the wins have dried up. Looking at the last six races in order, Port of London ran second, then fifth, then ninth, then won, then seventh, and most recently second again just a day ago.

That second-place finish yesterday suggests the horse is still in the frame and capable of competitive performances. But the ten-month drought since its last win, combined with inconsistent recent form, means Port of London is at a crossroads. It has shown it can win at the right level. Whether it can string wins together again, or whether it has simply hit a patch where other horses are getting the better of it, will become clear soon enough.
