Poppies In July
Poppies In July is a five-year-old with just one race under her belt so far, finishing fifth on her only outing — which came just yesterday, so the experience is about as fresh as it gets. One race tells you almost nothing about a horse's potential, and plenty of good horses take time to find their feet.Based on TrackLab's analysis

What is worth watching is the yard behind her. Adam Nicol trains out of Seahouses in Northumberland and has sent out 26 winners already this season, which suggests a small stable that knows what it's doing. A trainer running at that kind of volume has a good eye for placing horses where they can be competitive, so how Nicol targets Poppies In July next will be telling. One run in, the story is just beginning.
