That single run tells us little beyond the fact that Pop Star is now a known quantity on a racecourse. Tenth place is nothing to write home about, but one race is barely an introduction, and plenty of horses take time to find their feet. What matters more at this stage is who is doing the training. Iain Jardine, based in Carrutherstown in Dumfries and Galloway, has sent out 57 winners already this season — a yard clearly operating in good form and knowing what it takes to get a horse ready to compete. Being in capable hands counts for a lot when a horse is still finding its way.
There is nothing yet in Pop Star's record to build a narrative around, but with an active trainer in fine fettle and a racing career that is essentially just getting started, the next run will be worth watching.
