What we do know is that the breeding is interesting. The sire Mohaather was a seriously quick horse at his best, winning the Sussex Stakes, one of the top mile races in Britain. The mother's side brings in Equiano, a sprinting specialist who loved fast, dry ground and had electric early pace. If Pink Pyjamas has inherited any of that, the first race will tell us a lot.
The trainer, Jack Morland, operates out of Newmarket — the heartland of British flat racing — and his yard has already sent out 14 winners this season, which suggests the horses are fit and ready to perform. A debut runner from a yard in that kind of form is always worth watching. Morland's team will know far more than anyone on the outside about whether Pink Pyjamas is ready to win first time out or simply here to learn. Either way, this is the starting point of what could be a story worth following.
