Owner Keith Brown picked her up cheaply, partly because she's a late foal and lacks the size of a typical top-end prospect. But as he pointed out after that Beverley win, those were mitigating circumstances — and the clock doesn't lie. Ellison noted she'd been "very professional" for a first-time runner, showing none of the greenness you often see from a horse still learning its job.

The tricky part is what's happened since. That win remains her only one from 17 races — a win rate of just 1 in every 17 — and she hasn't won in her last six outings. Most of those races have come at the very highest level, Class 1, where she's gone winless in six attempts. Racing against the best in Britain week after week is an unforgiving education, and the figures show it. At the shorter trips she seems to suit — five to six-and-a-half furlongs — she's won 1 from 8 races (12%), which at least points to where her best chance of a return to the winner's enclosure lies.

What keeps the story interesting is that Ellison's yard is in strong form, having sent out 43 winners this season, and Perfect Part is still only four years old and racing regularly — she ran just yesterday. That Beverley performance on fast, dry ground set a genuine benchmark, and it's not unreasonable to wonder whether the right conditions at the right track might unlock something like it again. For now she's a horse whose best day was a brilliant one — and whose the yard will be hoping it wasn't also her only one.
