What she does have going for her is the team behind her. Trainer K R Burke operates out of Coverham in North Yorkshire, and this season his yard has sent out 140 winners — a remarkable volume that puts him among the most productive trainers in the country. A yard firing out winners at that rate knows how to spot when a young horse is ready, and the fact that Penny Arcade raced just yesterday suggests she's fit, healthy, and being kept busy. At two years old, horses are still learning what racing is actually about, and Burke's record shows he has a gift for bringing young horses along at the right pace.

Three races is a very small sample, and plenty of horses who placed repeatedly at two went on to win plenty at three. Penny Arcade hasn't shown us the full picture yet — and with a trainer producing winners at the rate Burke is this season, the expectation is there's more to come.
