The recent form figures tell a consistent story, and not a flattering one. Reading from the most recent race backwards: 8th, 14th, 13th, 22nd, 10th, 10th. That 22nd is particularly eye-catching — in a bad way. Finishing 22nd means there were at least 21 horses that got home ahead of this one, which suggests a very difficult afternoon indeed. The most recent run, just yesterday, produced an 8th-place finish, which is at least an improvement on the mid-teens efforts, but it is still a long way from troubling the judge.
Miss McLoughlin's yard has sent out 2 winners this season, so there is some form in the stable — just none of it involving Peig Sayers. At this stage, the yard will simply be hoping to find a race where this horse can start showing something, whether that is better form, better ground, or just a smaller field. Seven races is enough of a sample to say this has been a tough introduction to racing life, but horses can and do improve. For now, though, Peig Sayers remains one to watch rather than one to back.
