At four years old, Pearly Squirrel is right in the middle of its athletic prime, and the form figures from its last six races tell an interesting story: a win, a second place, and a third from the most recent three outings. After a couple of forgettable runs in the middle of that sequence — finishing eighth and tenth — it has clearly found its rhythm again. That bounce-back is worth noting. Plenty of horses at this level drift quietly into mediocrity; this one keeps dragging itself back into contention.

The two wins have come at different tracks. The first arrived at Doncaster in July 2025, then eight months later Pearly Squirrel won again at Wolverhampton in March 2026 — just three weeks ago. Two different venues suggest the horse isn't completely dependent on one specific track or set of conditions to produce its best, which gives David Loughnane options when it comes to placing it. Loughnane, based at Stoke Heath in Shropshire, has had a productive season — 38 winners sent out — and clearly knows how to find the right races for horses at this level.

The Class 5 record is the one honest caveat: one win from eleven races at that grade works out at roughly 1 in every 11 attempts, which is modest. But Class 5 is competitive in its own quiet way, and a horse that places as often as it wins is still doing its job. Pearly Squirrel raced just yesterday, so whatever comes next will need careful timing — but with the confidence of a recent win behind it and form pointing in the right direction, it heads into the coming weeks as a horse in decent nick and worth keeping an eye on.
