That Dundalk win, now 17 months ago, remains the solitary high point of the career. Since then, Pavilion End has gone six races without adding to it, and the recent form figures make for difficult reading — finishing 13th on the most recent outing, with a string of pulled-up or fell runs mixed in before that. Whatever was working in January 2025 has proven hard to recapture.
The strongest case for Pavilion End comes over longer distances. In the 1 mile 6 furlongs to 2 mile range, the record reads 1 win from 9 races — that is 11%, or roughly 1 in every 9 outings at those trips — which is meaningfully better than the overall career average. For a horse who has struggled to win at all, that distinction matters. It suggests that stamina, rather than speed, is where the best chance of another day in the sun lies.
Charles O'Brien trains the horse from his yard in Straffan, County Kildare, and the operation has sent out one winner this season so far. Pavilion End raced just yesterday, so it is very much an active campaign, and the yard will be hoping the right conditions and the right trip can tease out a repeat of that Dundalk performance. It has happened once — which at least proves it is possible.
