Parliamo

In racing terms, that means Parliamo has spent most of its career finishing close enough to matter but not close enough to count. At Class 4 level — the bread and butter of the British racing calendar, a step below the top tier but competitive enough — the record reads zero wins from three attempts, which suggests this is a horse still waiting for the right day.

Parliamo is trained by Mel Rowley, based in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Rowley's yard has sent out 12 winners this season, which shows this is an operation that knows how to get horses to the track in winning form. That makes Parliamo something of an outlier in the string — a horse that has absorbed the work without yet converting it into a result. Raced as recently as yesterday, Parliamo is clearly fit and active, and the team has not given up on finding the right opportunity.

At six, time is not exactly on Parliamo's side, but horses can and do find their moment later than expected. The one placed finish suggests there is some ability lurking there. Whether that ability is ever enough to translate into a win remains the question — and for now, the answer is still outstanding.
