There is not much to judge it on yet, and that is the honest truth. A single sixth-place finish tells you almost nothing about where a horse might end up — plenty of future winners have started their careers quietly, finding the experience a little much before coming back sharper. What is worth noting is the training setup behind it. Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole, based at Elmbridge in Worcestershire, have sent out 51 winners already this season, which is a yard operating in genuinely good form. Horses from a stable firing like that tend to improve with each run, and Outback Legend will likely look very different once it has a bit more racecourse experience in its legs. One to keep an eye on rather than write off.
