Oristown Boy

His last race was just a day ago, and he is clearly being kept active by trainer Joseph Anthony Murray's Navan yard. Murray has sent out only two winners all season, which makes Oristown Boy one of a relatively selective group of runners the yard is backing. The horse's most recent form shows a mixed picture: a second place, then a seventh, a third, his sole win at Galway back in early August, a fourth, and most recently a thirteenth. That last run was a step back, but at two years old, inconsistency is often more the rule than the exception. The win at Galway two months ago remains his only taste of the winner's circle, and finding another victory will be crucial if he is to develop into something more than a horse that occasionally shows promise. The yard will be hoping that his two-furlong sweet spot—that distance where he has proven he can deliver—becomes the template for future opportunities.
