Where Only One Blue shows genuine promise is over longer distances. At two miles and beyond, the horse wins roughly 1 in every 5 races (1 from 5), which is a meaningful strength at a time when it is struggling elsewhere. That long-distance aptitude may be key to future success. The horse is ridden most often by Tom Broughton, under whom it has a 20 per cent win rate (1 from 5), marginally better than its overall record — a small but positive sign. Trainer Max Comley, based at Warminster in Wiltshire, has sent out 18 winners this season, suggesting a competent yard, though Only One Blue is yet to deliver at the highest level. It has contested five races in the top flight of Class 5 racing without a win, which explains why it has not won in twelve months. Only One Blue is still active, having raced as recently as a day ago, and given its strength over distance and its proven partnership with Broughton, a race at two miles or more in a lower class could be where it next finds the winner's enclosure.
