Omni Man

The first came at Roscommon in May 2025, a pleasing start. The second, and far more significant, arrived at Goodwood on 30 July 2025 — a Class 2 victory, meaning one of the top races in Britain. Goodwood is a demanding, undulating track where not every horse performs, and winning there at that level takes genuine ability. That result alone tells you this is a horse operating well above average company.

Omni Man is at his best over a mile and three to a mile and four furlongs, a distance that suits horses with stamina and a smooth, sustained gallop. In six races over that range he has won twice — 2 from 6, or 33% — which is a strong conversion rate at that trip. He also has a clear preference for normal ground conditions, winning both his races on a standard surface. Put him on wet or muddy ground and his record thins out sharply, so weather will always be worth watching when he runs.

He is trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien at Owning Hill in County Kilkenny, one of the most productive yards in Ireland right now. The stable has sent out 171 winners already this season — an extraordinary volume that reflects both the quality of horses they handle and the organisation behind the operation. Having a horse like Omni Man, a Goodwood Class 2 winner, fits the profile of a yard that regularly operates at the highest level.

His recent form reads 5–pulled up–9–3–1–5, which shows the inconsistency that comes with a horse still finding his feet at this level. The blank run and the moderate finishes sit alongside that Goodwood win as a reminder that he is not infallible. But he raced just yesterday and remains active, so whatever comes next will tell us a great deal about whether that Goodwood performance was the moment he announced himself — or just a glimpse of what he can do on the right day.
