Ohailbhic

The horse's form has tightened recently. It has won two of its last six races, including a victory at Dundalk on 20 March — though that was seven months ago, and there have been some modest finishes in between. The last six runs show a mix: fourth, seventh, sixth, seventh, then two wins back-to-back. That suggests Ohailbhic has form to find again after a quiet spell, but the back-to-back victories prove it is still capable of the kind of performance that made those early wins possible.

John James Feane trains Ohailbhic from Curragh, and the yard is having a solid season with eight winners already. There is a clear pattern to what works for this horse: normal ground conditions suit it best (three wins from ten races, a 30% win rate), and it performs significantly better over the longer middle distances of 1m1f to 1m2f (two wins from four races — a 50% win rate). Put those two things together — Dundalk's surface, normal ground, the right distance — and Ohailbhic becomes a different proposition. The challenge is finding all the pieces in place at once, but when they have aligned, the horse has delivered.
