Of Corse I Can

The interesting part is what happens when Bradley Harris is in the saddle. In six races together, they have won twice, a 33% win rate that towers above the horse's career average. That kind of difference is rarely coincidence. Whether it is the jockey's feel for the horse, his timing, or simply better luck, something clicks between them. The trainer Neil Mulholland, based at Limpley Stoke in Wiltshire, has been sending plenty of winners into the ring this season—60 already—so the yard is in form even if this particular horse is not.

When competing at Class 5, the level where Of Corse I Can has spent most of its career, it wins roughly one in every eight races (2 wins from 15). That is better than its overall record, which suggests it belongs at that grade. The horse raced just a day ago and came fourth, so it is clearly still active and being given chances. Whether it can rediscover the touch it showed last October—ideally with Harris back on board—will determine whether those two wins prove to be false dawn or the start of something more sustained.
