What we do know is the breeding, and it tells an interesting story. The father, Mayson, was a brilliant sprinter during his racing days, quick and consistent over short distances. The mother's side brings in Oasis Dream, another stallion with a serious reputation for producing fast, sharp horses. Put those two together and you have a pedigree that points strongly toward speed — this looks like a horse built to fly out of the gates rather than grind out a long-distance slog.
Whether that pedigree translates to results on the track is the question every first-time runner has to answer for themselves. Some horses take to racing immediately; others need a run or two before the penny drops. For now, Not Too Far is a blank page — and that, in its own way, is part of the excitement.
