That tells you this horse has a very specific sweet spot, and when conditions suit, it delivers. Trainers and teams take note of things like that, and you'd expect Noche Clasica to be carefully placed on similar ground going forward.

The yard behind the horse is Edward Bethell, based up in Middleham in North Yorkshire, one of British racing's great training centres. Bethell's operation has sent out 59 winners already this season — that's a yard in serious form, not just ticking over.
