That one win at Fakenham on 31 May came four months ago, and he has not found the line since. After racing just yesterday, he is clearly still active and still trying, but that long gap between victories is the kind of detail that matters to anyone watching his races. When a horse stops winning for four months, something has shifted—whether age, form, or simple bad luck is impossible to say.

What lifts his profile slightly is his record with jockey Harry Bannister. In 11 races together, they have won three times (roughly 1 in 4)—a meaningful improvement on his overall win rate. Bannister seems to suit him. Trainer Ben Case, based at Edgcote in Northants, has a solid yard with 15 winners this season, so the support is there. Where Nickelforce really struggles is in the better-class races: he has run 12 times at Class 4 level without a single win. He is a horse for the smaller events, the kind that fills the card reliably but rarely catches your eye with a brilliant performance.
