The recent form makes for mixed reading. A second-place finish is the highlight, but a tenth in one of those five races shows there have been days where things simply haven't clicked. That said, the last run came just yesterday, which tells you this is a horse very much in active training and being kept busy — the yard clearly hasn't given up on finding the right opportunity.

That yard is worth paying attention to. Gavin Cromwell trains out of Navan in County Meath, and his team has sent out 97 winners already this season — a serious number that puts him firmly in the conversation among the leading trainers in Ireland. When a trainer of that calibre keeps running a horse, it usually means they believe there's a win in it somewhere. Neon Eyes hasn't delivered yet, but it's in exactly the right hands to find its moment.
