After that first win three weeks ago, Needin' U came third most recently, then fourth before that, then a strong second-place finish in between. That kind of form — mixing a placed finish with a closer run — tells you the horse is competitive enough to get near the front regularly, even if winning hasn't come again just yet. Winning just one from five races at this stage isn't remarkable, but it's solid. The Michael and David Easterby yard, based in North Yorkshire, has sent out 55 winners already this season, so the horse is in a busy, capable operation where it's getting regular racing and the kind of experience young horses need. At two years old, Needin' U has plenty of time to improve, and the pattern of runs suggests it's building towards better things rather than struggling.
