The recent form makes for uncomfortable reading: finishing 4th, 3rd, 10th, 4th, and most recently 6th, there is no obvious upward curve here. That 3rd place is the one flicker of promise — proof that Nebrook Star can get competitive — but the 10th and the 6th suggest inconsistency rather than steady improvement. At Class 5, which is the entry-level tier of British racing, the horse has tried three times and come up empty on each occasion. That is the level where you would expect a horse with genuine ability to eventually break through.
Trainer Diego Dias operates out of Rathbride in County Kildare and has sent out 3 winners so far this season, which shows the yard is capable of winning races. The question is whether Nebrook Star can become one of them. After a 64-day break — long enough to freshen up but not so long as to suggest anything is seriously wrong — the horse will return to the track with a small point to prove. Sometimes a short rest does reset things. Sometimes it does not. At this stage, Nebrook Star needs results more than excuses.
