Naval Cop

The horse is trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere in Hampshire, one of the most successful yards in the country — Balding sent out 202 winners this season alone. That kind of operation knows how to build young horses properly. With only 7 races under her belt, Naval Cop is still very much a work in progress, and the gap of seven weeks since that Chepstow win suggests the team may be taking their time rather than rushing her back. At this stage, one win from seven races is unremarkable for a two-year-old, but the fact she has already found the winner's circle puts her ahead of plenty of her age group. The real question now is whether she can get back there soon — and whether that Chepstow win was the sign of genuine talent or simply a good day at the office.
