Jockey Rhys Elliott has partnered it five times without a win between them, though that's as much a reflection of the horse's record as anything else.

The recent form is a mixed picture. A pulled-up run is in there alongside finishes of eighth, second, third, sixth, and fifth — so there are signs of life. That second and third place suggest Nakatomi can get competitive on its day, it just hasn't been able to go one better. At 22 races in and still winless, the window isn't getting any wider, but yesterday's run shows the yard is still actively looking for that breakthrough. Whether it comes is another matter — but Nakatomi has earned a reputation as a horse that keeps turning up, even if the prize money keeps going to someone else.
