Mystic Music

Trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere, Mystic Music is in capable hands. Balding's yard has sent out 202 winners this season, a sign of consistent quality and an operation that knows how to ready horses for the track. Recent form has been mixed. Looking at the last five races, Mystic Music ran eighth most recently, before that a fourth, then a second-place finish — some promise there — then nothing recorded, and a fifth before that. The horse is active and racing regularly, which matters; it is still learning what winning feels like, but at least it is getting racing experience. The fact it has already been placed twice suggests it is at least competitive in the fields it is facing, even if victory remains elusive.

For now, Mystic Music is a horse to keep an eye on rather than one lighting up the scoreboard. At three years old with a trainer of Balding's calibre, there is time for it to find its level and perhaps pick up that first win. Until then, it remains a pleasant mid-field sort — the kind that turns up, runs its race, and occasionally finds itself in the mix at the finish.
