My Mate Mackley

The highlight of the career so far came at Chepstow on 21 May 2026, where My Mate Mackley broke through for that first win. Chepstow is a track with a testing, undulating layout that sorts out horses quickly, so a win there is a decent marker. Since then the form has read 2-3 in the two runs that followed — placed both times — which suggests the Chepstow victory was no fluke and that the horse has been running with purpose rather than fading away after its moment in the sun.

What adds real interest here is the trajectory. The earlier results of 6 and 8 in the first two races look like a horse learning the job, and then everything clicked. Trained by Adam Kirby out of a yard in Kirtling, near Newmarket, the team has sent out 6 winners already this season, so this is a yard in decent form and clearly not short of knowhow. With a race just yesterday, My Mate Mackley is very much a horse in motion — one to keep an eye on as the season develops.
