Her recent form reads 2-4-3-7-4-7, which tells an interesting story in itself. She was running well enough a few months back, collecting that second and third place finish, but the two runs before her current break were deeply forgettable — finishing seventh on both occasions. She's now had roughly four months off, which could mean anything from a minor setback to a planned freshening-up ahead of a new campaign. Horses sometimes come back sharper after a break; sometimes they come back needing a run or two to find their rhythm again.

The partnership with jockey Bruce Lynn hasn't cracked the code either. Seven races together and not a single win between them — though in fairness, that says more about the horse's overall record than any particular failing on his part. He clearly knows her well at this point, for better or worse.

Her trainer, N W Alexander, operates out of Leslie in Fife and has had a productive season with 18 winners sent out from the yard, which shows this is a functioning, winning operation — My Lady Elektra just hasn't been the one delivering those results. She's been competing almost entirely at Class 4, which sits in the middle tier of British racing — not the glamour end, but genuinely competitive. Five races at that level and no wins suggests she's finding it tough to make her mark even at this standard. At eight years old, the window for a breakthrough isn't closing, but it isn't wide open either. What she needs is everything clicking at once — the right conditions, a confidence-boosting run back from her break, and maybe a little luck.
