The recent form makes for tough reading. Looking at the last six races — a second place being the only bright spot — the pattern has been finishing well down the field, with results of thirteenth, ninth, fourteenth, and tenth scattered through the sequence. That solitary runner-up finish stands out like a postcard from a better day, a reminder that the ability to trouble the judge has been there at least once, even if converting it into a victory has proved elusive. Two places from 22 races means My Kurkum has finished in the top three roughly 1 in every 11 outings, which is a modest return by any measure.

What is perhaps most notable is the sheer persistence. My Kurkum raced just yesterday and is clearly still an active part of a trainer's string at an age when many horses have long since moved on to other things. Whether that reflects genuine belief that a first win is still possible, or simply that the horse remains sound and willing enough to keep lining up, is hard to say. But eight years old, 22 races, and still turning up — there is something quietly stubborn about that.
